The development team at Blizzard is continuing to work on patch 2.1.0 patch for Diablo 3, and one of the new features that will be added to the hack and slash title will be a major Vault area that is powered by the presence of the Treasure Goblins.

In an official blog post, the company states that "Ever since the recent demonic invasion, tales of Treasure Goblins scurrying about Kehjistan's battlefields have riddled Sanctuary’s taverns. At first believed to be frenzied grave robbers, the goblins' true nature became known only once they were witnessed in broad daylight."

Once the new update for the title is introduced, gamers can continue to play as usual, but every time they kill a Treasure Goblin they have an unspecified chance to open up a new portal that will get them to the Vault area.

Here, Diablo 3 players will be able to find an impressive cache of wealth, most of it stolen from the people of the Sanctuary, other players, and the people that inhabit Sanctuary, with plenty of gold, gems that can be used in a variety of ways, and chests that are filled with high level items.

The new environment is also home to the powerful Baroness Greed, the leader of the Treasure Goblins, who is trying to protect her treasure from all unwelcomed guests.

In order to get access to the wealth of the Vault, gamers who play Diablo 3 will need to battle her and her minions and defeat their power.

Blizzard states, "The Baroness Greed is never satisfied, so there's a lot of work to be done to keep the Vault up to snuff. Her goblin minions are continuously sent out to collect more gold. The incoming gold in turn has to be tallied. And the existing gold must be inventoried to make sure none of it has gone missing. Plus, Greed takes a bath in all her gold every three hours. She's definitely high-maintenance, as is her domain."

Treasure Goblins have long been a mysterious presence in Diablo 3 and the studio says that it relished the chance to explore their home, create a hierarchy for the creatures, and allow the player to battle them and their leader in a completely new level.

Blizzard is not yet willing to state exactly what kind of rewards players will get in the Vault, but the community of gamers will be able to find out once patch 2.1.0 for the game is launched.
