Video game developer Blizzard is announcing that it is planning to shut down the Public Test Realms for Diablo 3 today at 11 AM Pacific Daylight Time and that it will then aim to deliver the full patch 2.2.0 to the public as quickly as possible.

The official forum announcement states, "At that time, you will no longer be able to log to the PTR client, all PTR accounts will be reset, and the PTR Feedback and PTR Bug Report forums will be marked as read-only."

None of the progress gamers have made playing the PTR area of Diablo 3 will transfer to the core account.

All those who have tested the changes that are being made in the 2.2.0 patch for Diablo 3 will be able to see their contribution when the community gets access to the tweaks.

The development team is not yet offering an official list of patch notes.

As always, Blizzard is not saying whether "shortly" means that the update will be implemented in Diablo 3 as soon as the PTR is down, or that a few hours will pass and gamers are better off waiting for it to launch tomorrow.

Diablo 3 is getting a new Season soon

Patch 2.2.0 is designed to deal with a wide array of problems that the community has been talking about lately, and the overall balance for the action RPG should improve once it arrives.

The deployment of the changes is taking place right after Season 2 for the title has ended, with gamers now able to collect their rewards.

They can also plan the kind of builds they will be interested in using for the coming Season 3, which is set to start on April 10 as long as everything goes right.

Players who take part will be able to earn both unique rewards and bragging rights if they manage to top the leaderboards.

Blizzard says that it has plans to continue to add new modes and content to Diablo 3 all through 2015.

It's unclear whether another full expansion for the game, with new environments and another class, is currently planned or if the game will only evolve based on currently available core mechanics.
