The development team at Blizzard announces that it is dropping the price of the Diablo 3 core game by 50 percent until the launch of the Reaper of Souls expansion for the title, which is set to take place on March 25 on the PC and Mac.

The company seems determined to make sure that as many players as possible get acquainted with the core mechanics of the action role-playing game and familiarize themselves with the setting and the changes that have recently been introduced.

Gamers can get Diablo 3 for under 20 dollars or Euro, depending on the market, and more details can be obtained on the official site.

Blizzard delivers a quick description of the title by saying, “Lay waste to legions of evil throughout randomized, 3D environments. Face innumerable demonic villains, uncover quests in new locations, and claim different loot every time you play. No two games are ever the same.”

In its original version from 2012, the game was highly divisive and many fans of the previous two titles in the series accused the development team of creating an experience that was more focused on the Auction House and real-money trading than on combat and interesting challenges.

Since then, Blizzard has delivered a lot of patches and updates for the game, all of them designed to improve player experience and make sure that long-term players remained engaged with it.

The major patch 2.0.1 for Diablo 3 was delivered about one month ago and it is designed to improve the loot system, introduce a new version of the Paragon mechanics and also make other general improvements.

Since then, the studio has delivered another two smaller patches, mostly focused on bug fixes and on improving balance for some classes.

Reaper of Souls is an expansion that will focus on a new area that gamers can explore, complete with quests to undertake, characters to talk to, more lore to understand and new monsters to battle.

Diablo 3 is also getting the Crusader class, which is specifically equipped to use holy attacks and its faith in order to deal with undead enemies.

Blizzard hopes that gamers will first use it to complete the core campaign of the game before exploring the entire expansion.

Until March 25, players can get a 50 percent experience bonus on the PC and the Mac, allowing them to prepare their characters for the arrival of Reaper of Souls.
