The development team at Blizzard might be focused on the launch of the new Ultimate Evil Edition, which will bring Diablo 3 to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but the company is also adding a wealth of new content in the 2.1.0 patch that will accompany its launch, with the focus now the Seasons mode.

The new feature is designed to introduce an entirely new multiplayer experience for long-term fans by allowing them to create a new character and then basically race against others in order to get access to unique items and complete a series of challenges.

The official announcement states, "Seasonal heroes are completely separate from your existing ones. This means they start from scratch, without access to your existing gold, blood shards, shared stash, Paragon levels, Artisan levels, crafting patterns, or items. Just as your Normal and Hardcore mode heroes have separately tracked progression, Seasons stand entirely on their own."

A complex leaderboard system will be added to Diablo 3 to make it easier for gamers to track their progress in Seasons, and the company says that there are three core activities for gamers who take part.

In Conquests, they will be able to get Achievements by focusing on a particular task and by delivering outstanding performance.

Blizzard adds, "what makes a Conquest different from a regular Achievement? Conquests are generally more challenging to complete than a standard Achievement and, as a result, they come with a special perk. If you're one of the first 1,000 players to complete a Conquest, your name will be immortalized on the Conquest Leaderboard for the rest of the Season."

Ten new Legendary items are offered to all those who take part in Seasons in order to encourage participation, and more rewards are planned for a later date.

An entirely new Transmogrification set will be offered to those participate, and for the first Season gamers will be able to get a special helmet that will only be available to those who reach maximum level during the event.

All the heroes created during a Season will become normal ones at the end and gamers will be able to use them normally in Diablo 3, either in Normal or Hardcore modes.

Blizzard encourages all those interested in Season to join the first version of the new multiplayer mode and offer their feedback in order to improve the overall experience as the game evolves.
