World’s most charismatic and terrifying serial killer is back. Though fans still have several months to go until the premiere of season 6 of “Dexter,” at least they have something to keep them going until then: the first teaser trailer.

Showtime has just dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming season, which will premiere, as fans must already know, this fall.

You can see it below, in the video embedded at the end of the article.

The 56-second teaser may not offer a lot in terms of details on the upcoming season, but it does its job wonderfully at getting the hype going.

What with season 5 being somewhat of a letdown, especially after season 4, which ended on a very high and unexpected note, producers probably need all the hype they can get.

The teaser includes lots of references to the previous seasons (though mysteriously not to season 5) and the archrivals Dexter took out, including his long lost brother the Ice Truck Killer, Sergeant Doakes and Trinity.

For a fan of the show, the images will speak for themselves.

It’s towards the end that the bomb is dropped: there one scene that shows Dexter on a table similar to the one he uses when he “goes to work” on his victims.

He appears to be strapped to it with clear tape, while someone cuts him on the cheek – again, just like he does to his victims, when he’s taking their blood for his collection of slides.

The scene is followed by the sound of a woman screaming (probably Dexter’s sister Deb) and of broken glass, all meant to get fans on their toes for the release.

“Dexter returns and nothing can prepare you for what comes next. This fall, hell breaks loose,” is all Showtime is saying about season 6.

Without further ado, check out the teaser trailer below and, of course, keep an eye on this space for more details on this.
