The TC5D was the first generally available thin client to make use of an Intel Atom central processing unit and employ the PC-over-IP protocol that enables customers operating remotely to deploy full, PC-like experiences. The VMWare View 4 Certification essentially means that the device has completed the VMware Hardware Certification Program testing criteria for use with VMware View 4. In other words, the device is compliant with the “industry's only purpose-built desktop virtualization solution” that helps users “cost-effectively deploy centrally manageable virtual solutions.”

“We are pleased that the Devon IT TC5D thin client qualifies for the VMware Ready logo, signifying to customers that it has passed specific VMware testing and interoperability criteria and is ready to run in production environments,” Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware, said.

“According to Gartner Inc. and other industry gurus, the thin client and hosted virtual desktop market is poised to explode, especially in corporate environments,” Joe Makoid, president, Devon IT, added. “The practicality and cost benefits of these alternative desktop platforms are leading reasons why IT administrators are taking data off of the desktop and putting it back in the datacenter. We are proud that the TC5D has collaborated so well with View 4, and we expect this solution to help many customers save IT dollars without sacrificing performance.”

The VMware Ready co-branding program is part of the VMware TAP one, which has over 1,300 members worldwide and provides them with a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise. The Devon IT TC5D client is now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide and is, officially, the second PcoIP-enabled Devon IT model to gain this certification.
