A report citing Oecoway co-founder Cyril Moutran, the developer of an unofficial Facebook app, reveals that iPad owners are on track to get the official version of the software with tablet-specific characteristics.

Macnn claims that an official Facebook app for the iPad is "coming soon," according to Oecoway co-founder Cyril Moutran.

The site acknowledges that the developer is responsible for Friendly, an unofficial Facebook iPad app.

Friendly is described by its maker as a Facebook browser which allows users to read and comment their newsfeed, chat with online friends, read or write a Facebook messages, update their status, view photos in full screen, keep up with notifications, and respond to events.

His app will likely stay in place (it’s 75% off at the moment, by the way), but people at Facebook have reportedly told Moutran that an official version of the iOS Facebook app is being coded for the iPad.

Not only that, it’s nearing release, Macnn reports, citing the developer in question.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is known to have promised an iPad version of their iOS Facebook app since June.

As for the existing official Facebook app for iPhones, it has remained pretty much the same since its latest update in June, when the software was tweaked to support iOS 4.

Macnn further notes that Moutran’s unofficial Facebook browser for iPad users has done quite well, in the absence of an official solution from the creators of the popular social network.

Moutran admitted that the success of his app came mostly from being quick to provide a solution to those looking to have Facebook at hand on their big iPads’ screens.

Cutting the $5 price is also believed to have helped, the report notes. So, until Facebook delivers, here’s Moutran’s Friendly app to keep you going.
