Video game developer Eidos Montreal and publisher Square Enix are ready to confirm that they are working on a new title in the Deus Ex franchise, called Mankind Divided, which is designed to tell a new chapter in the story of Adam Jensen.

Earlier in the day, a leak offered some information about the title, which is also being gradually shown by the two companies via an official Twitch stream.

The narrative of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will take place in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, and will feature the main character working with a new task force from Interpol.

Their aim is to take out a wide array of powerful terrorists who have augmented themselves and are seeking to re-build the world in their vision.

Most humans are scared of those who are using tech to evolve, and the entire game will feature an atmosphere of terror and oppression.

The official reveal in Game Informer does not offer too many details about the story that will be told in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The development team says that it will introduce a better combat system and improved boss encounters.

Adam Jensen will also have a new suite of augmentations which will influence the way he deals with combat, stealth and social interactions.

The game will feature a nanoshield that's almost impossible to destruct, a nano blade that can be used at a distance, and a remote hack power.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be an open-ended experience

Eidos Montreal says that player choices will remain at the core of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and that gamers will have a free hand when it comes to the ending of the title.

The state of humanity will be shaped via actions and combat, but also through conversations with a new cast of characters.

Eidos Montreal has not offered any details about the NPCs that will be included in the new title or on whether Human Revolution characters will be back.

More information about the title is set to be offered all through the month, with a focus on the new mechanics that the studio is introducing.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set to be launched on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4, but no launch window has been mentioned so far.
