Video game publisher Square Enix has announced that it has managed to ship more than 2 million units of its August launch Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the mix between action and stealth that was created by the studio in Eidos Montreal.

The number of copies moved to retailers takes into account the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions of the game and the publisher believes that in the coming weeks and months the sales total will continue to grow, partly because of the great reviews that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been receiving and partly because of the new content that the developers are planning to launch.

The Missing Link DLC will be launched during the month of October and will offer players another chance to choose the arsenal of augmentations for their characters while exploring a mysterious ship and finding out more about the world of Deus Ex.

Square Enix has also announced that it will be launching the game on the Japanese market in October.

The 2 million shipped number does not mean that all those copies have actually been sold to gamers but this is still a solid figure for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a game that does not really conform to the traditional image of the fall blockbuster.

The player takes on the role of Adam Jensen, a man that undergoes significant augmentification and then uses his newfound power in order to solve a personal mystery and uncover a wider conspiracy linked to the future of mankind.

The game allows the gamer to use a variety of means, from straight up frontal assaults to stealth movement and careful hacking, to achieve a number of objectives while exploring a complex and well developed world.

The developers have not said whether they are planning to create a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution but we might hear something soon about one if sales continue to grow.
