Either called Xbox 2 or Xbox 360, the gaming community is eager for any new details about this so long waited for gaming console.

Recently, GameSpy published (as rumor, though) a possible configuration of the second generation Xbox. According to the spies, Xbox will be operated by a 3 core 3GHz Power PC processor, each core with 32 kb cache level 1, 32 kb instruction cache and 1 MB of shared cache level 2.

ATI is in charge of the graphics, through a 500 MHz post-X800 card. The platform will have 256 MB RAM, but the memory type is not specified yet, and the additional memory modules will have capacities of 64 MB - 1 GB.

The console won't be equipped with any new generation storage technologies, such as Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, but it will be supplied with a dual-layer DVD drive. Most likely, the Xbox will be able to host an additional hard drive and will include a 5.1 channel sound card.

Microsoft made a few official statements (revealing other facilities than those advanced by GameSpy), such as the high-definition aspects of Xbox, the fact that it will have a built-in integrated media browser and there will be an online game purchasing method from within the platform.

All experts estimate that the new generation of Xbox will be released around the winter holidays, but Microsoft didn't specify any certain date yet.
