Sony Ericsson's Idou, the 12-megapixel flagship camera phone that has been recently spotted around, is expected to come to the market in the third quarter of the ongoing year. When launched, the device should turn into a rather popular mobile phone, some even saying that it could outpace Xperia X1 in this regard, as well as a wide range of other handsets.

We'll still have to wait a little while before seeing the device available for purchase on the market, but the Sony Ericsson Idou can already be seen in some photos that have recently emerged to the Web. To be more precise, we're talking a working prototype of the handset that went to MobilMania. The guys over there published a hands-on material and we can make an idea on what the upcoming mobile phone should be able to provide us with.

For what it's worth, the new device is supposedly going to be one of the nicest mobile phones that the company has unveiled until now. The handset measures 111 x 54 x 15 mm, which makes it a rather big phone, yet it is still smaller than some of the devices that are already available on the market, including the iPhone.

What Sony Ericsson Idou has to offer when it comes to specifications is a 3.5-inch touchscreen, able to provide a 360 × 640 pixel resolution, as well as support for 16 million colors. On the back, there is the 12.1-megapixel photo snapper, which also sports a lens cover. On the left side, the device features a sliding button that is meant to lock the display, as well as a Fast connector port and a microSD memory card slot.

Sony Ericsson Idou also includes GPRS Class 10, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g capabilities. The handset runs under Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system, the same featured by the high-end Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone. On the other hand, the device also sports some features that are specific to Sony Ericsson, like TrackID and multimedia album.

More details on Sony Ericsson Idou, as well as a larger number of photos with it can be found over at MobilMania (in Slovak).
