Destiny developer Bungie shares a few more details about the upcoming Connection Recovery system that's set to debut for the multiplayer shooter next week, alongside patch 1.2.0.1 for the title and the House of Wolves expansion.

Destiny launched last year and developer Bungie has kept on improving the title through different free updates, not to mention the special The Dark Below expansion that rolled out last December.

The studio released patch 1.2.0 for Destiny yesterday, and currently it is putting the finishing touches on the House of Wolves expansion and the hot fix update 1.2.0.1, which are both set to debut next week, on May 19.

The Connection Recovery system gets more details

After sharing a changelog for the upcoming patch, which is set to bring a fresh Connection Recovery system, Bungie shares a few more details on its website about the actual mechanic that should prevent players from being kicked into orbit when the network conditions aren't behaving that well.

According to Bungie's Damian Frank, who handles matchmaking engineering, players get kicked into orbit due to specific problems, such as not being able to communicate with the network router, or due to issues that can be blamed on Bungie's servers or the player's infrastructure.

Thankfully, the Connection Recovery system is going to attempt to reconnect players, provided the issues they're encountering aren't that severe. The mechanic allows them to get back into the game quickly and continue their progress in the same conditions.

At the beginning, Connection Recovery will be available only in the Trials of Osiris competitive multiplayer event that's set to debut in House of Wolves. If things work smoothly, it will then be rolled out for all the other activities in the multiplayer shooter in the following weeks.

Expect to hear more about House of Wolves, the hot fix update 1.2.0.1 for Destiny, and the many other goodies coming to the title next week, including an exact timing of the debut for the expansion and patch.
