Video game developer Bungie announces that it plans to first decrease the importance and then eliminate the loot cave included in Destiny in order to significantly change the loot-related mechanics of the social shooter and to increase the importance of activities.

In a big blog post, the studio says that it was amazed at how quickly the community organized itself around the cave farming, but it has plans to shift away from it.

The company explains that "Shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn't our dream for how Destiny is played. Our hope is that social engagement in public spaces is only one part of the Destiny experience. Expect changes soon which decrease the efficiency of cave farming and correspondingly increase engram drops from completing activities."

More celebrations, more social elements

Bungie also claims that it wants reward celebrations to be more present in Destiny and that it will try to make sure that gamers have a clear idea when they get access to new loot so that they can enjoy the moment however they want.

The studio also explains that it will introduce opt-in voice communication for its social events in order to make sure that gamers do not endure abuse at any point and have the option of working with friends.

At the same time, developers want to make sure that the core social nature of the title is not affected.

Destiny will get big balance changes

Bungie has tracked the way players are engaging with Destiny since it was launched, and it is now ready to roll out a number of changes which will better balance the experience.

The studio states, "Since launch we've tracked down an issue which has made Strikes more challenging than originally designed by both increasing damage taken by players and decreasing the damage inflicted by players on the boss. Expect to see this addressed soon, and for Strikes to become a little less grindy as a result (sorry, Raiders - incoming damage is working as intended in the Vault of Glass)."

The changes in balance for Destiny will also include improvements to some of the exotic weapons that players can obtain during the late game.

Bungie is not saying exactly when it plans to introduce the changes to the shooter, but gamers can expect to see smaller hotfixes in the coming days and bigger patches in the near future.
