Gamers will need all the help to take Crota down

Video game developer Bungie is re-introducing the Iron Banner event to Destiny starting today and gamers can take part in the Player versus Player mode until December 22 in order to test their skills against other humans and to try and get access to a new set of rewards, including some high level gear.

The mechanics of the mode are the same as they were last time the event was present in the social shooter, with gamers asked to try and boost both their defense and attack values in order to have a chance at winning and getting the items to boost their characters.

The team at Bungie states, “Increase your Event Standing to unlock better weapons and gear from Lord Saladin. Upgraded gauntlets and boots provide a path to Level 31.”

The new gear is important because gamers need it in order to tackle the high level raid content introduced in The Dark Below, including the major final battle against Crota, a being who has the power of a God and is threatening to attack Earth.

Bungie has recently announced that both the daily and the weekly events for Destiny will cycle between classic content and events that are locked and only offered to those who have paid to get the expansion.

Destiny is a long-term project for Bungie

At the moment, the team that created the new game universe is already exploring new ways of expanding it, with work already going on for a new major content drop, called House of Wolves, which is set to be offered in the summer of next year.

Until then, Bungie will continue to listen to the feedback coming from the player community so that it can deliver updates that can in turn improve player experience.

Events such as the Iron Banner are designed to keep the community interested and to make sure that they do not move on to other titles in the shooter genre.

Changes will be made when it comes to the rewards offered to gamers.

The biggest challenge for Bungie is to make sure that it delivers enough interesting content to keep high-level players engaged, which might be difficult given that the Crota’s End raid, which was the centerpiece of The Dark Below, was beaten by a group of players in about six hours after the official launch of the expansion.
