14 DAY TRIAL // A lot of rumors about the potential launch date and the content that will be introduced in the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny have been swirling around recently, and the development team at Bungie has stepped in to some degree in order to clarify some info about the new content.
In the new Weekly Update on the official site, the company explains that House of Wolves will be introduced alongside a major new patch, labeled 1.2, and that they are planning to launch both during the second quarter of this year.
This means that the expansion can be introduced in April, May or June, and the studio says it will only reveal the actual date when it has completed all the new content it is working on.
This means that the initial House of Wolves leak that talked about a March delivery was wrong, but it might give some credence to the most recent rumors, which say that launch will take place on May 19.
The official Bungie announcement adds, “We’re keeping all other details under wraps for now. There is a special team here that's dedicated to creating some new ways for you to play Destiny. They’re also making the game you know a better reflection of what we’ve learned about you since you’ve started playing.”
Apparently, the company is aiming to involve some players in the development process, but it wants to also give its developers the freedom to create content without getting constant feedback from the community.
House of Wolves is roughly equivalent to The Dark Below
The most recent leak shows some of the new items and the new weapons that will be added to Destiny, but an official response from community manager Deej says that much of the content shown is outdated.
House of Wolves is designed to deliver about the same amount of content as it arrived in early December as part of The Dark Below, which means one big end-game raid with a powerful boss, strikes for smaller teams, and new activities.
A second, bigger expansion for Destiny is set to arrive later in the year and will add more environments while also making big changes to some of the core game mechanics, but no official details have been offered about it.
