The company wants to satisfy all current players

When The Dark Below was launched, many gamers were surprised and angered that the development team at Bungie was replacing the daily and weekly heroic activities many members of the community took part in with content taken from the expansion.

The move basically means that much of the community, which has not bought the new content, is locked out at the moment, unable to experience some cool moments of the game and to earn rewards for the future.

In the most recent blog update linked to Destiny, the developers are saying that they do not plan to keep the same situation going for the coming weeks and the daily and weekly activities will switch between old and new content.

Bungie explains that Destiny launch quests will be featured next week and the rotation will continue in the coming months.

The studio adds, “With the introduction of the Will of Crota Strike as part of The Dark Below, we've added the activity to the Nightfall and Heroic rotation. These weekly events will require The Dark Below when Will of Crota is selected.”

The situation will still annoy some members of the community but seems to strike a good compromise between promoting The Dark Below and making sure that core game fans are still getting some action.

Iron Banner is returning to Destiny

Bungie also makes it clear that it will re-introduce the Iron Banner Player versus Player event to its social shooter on December 16 and that it will replace one of the premium playlists which are already part of the game.

The studio also claims that no maps from The Dark Below will be featured.

The company adds, “Our goal is to support every player of Destiny, and we'll be tuning the frequency and content featured in all special events as we go.”

The Dark Below allows gamers to experience new environments and to battle Crota himself in the new high level raid.

A new Exotics upgrade path has also been introduced for all players, and Bungie promises that all core features will be tweaked in the near future via patches.

A second major expansion for Destiny is currently already in development and will probably arrive in the summer of 2015.

The universe created for the new shooter will also support sequels, which apparently are already in the concept stage.
