A survey conducted on Reddit shows that over two thirds of gamers who plan on playing Destiny will do so on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home consoles.

Microsoft made the reveal that, due to a marketing deal between Sony and Activision, they weren't allowed to make any commercials for Destiny on Xbox platforms, which led to all official promo materials related to the game to advertise PlayStation consoles.

According to the recent survey, containing questions ranging from which consoles players will be playing Destiny on to how they would like to see the game expand, preferred weapons and whether they also plan on purchasing the game's future add-ons, it seems to have worked.

Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4

The PlayStation-oriented marketing and the fact that Sony's next-gen computer entertainment system, the PlayStation 4, greatly outstrips Microsoft's newest home console, the Xbox One, in terms of sales, led to the results of the poll showing that 63 percent of respondents will play Bungie's first-person shooter on the PS4, while only 24 percent will do so on the Xbox One.

The last generation of consoles has a minimal presence among those surveyed, with around 5 percent of those questioned planning to enjoy Destiny on the PlayStation 3, while 9 percent will play it on the Xbox 360 home console.

Some other interesting bits of information were revealed by the survey, totaling 851 responses, such as the fact that Destiny convinced 28 percent of respondents to upgrade to current-generation consoles, while 72 percent did it for other reasons or stuck to their PS3 and Xbox 360 devices.

Wanted features

Other revealing questions brought to light the fact that 55 percent of those questioned would like to see Bungie add non-playable characters who sell weapons, armor and other such items to the game, and that 84 percent of players planned to buy all available DLC expansions, while only 13 percent thought that they were not worth the extra money.

Furthermore, 57 percent of those interviewed declare that they would like to see Bungie add Custom Games and Matches to the game.

For the time being, the Titan class is the least popular, with just 25 percent of the votes, while the Warlock and Hunter are pretty evenly matched, with 35 and 37 percent of votes, respectively.

Players seem to favor Auto Rifles to every other weapons in PvE (35 percent) and even more so in PvP (57 percent), and 73 percent of those interviewed declare that they prefer Primary Weapons to Special and Heavy ones.

Destiny is coming out tomorrow, September 9, exclusively on the PS3 and PS4 systems from Sony, and on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One home consoles from Microsoft.
