Bungie confirms that it's decided to delay the release of its upcoming Destiny patch 1.2.0 due to a last-minute technical issue that's currently being fixed by its team. As such, fans should expect a new debut time soon enough.

Destiny is set to receive its long-awaited second major add-on next week, on May 19, in the form of the House of Wolves expansion. The studio's already highlighted some of the major features coming in the DLC to the multiplayer shooter, not to mention the fact that patch 1.2.0 is going to introduce some of the general changes affecting all players.

While the actual update got launched for the game last week, it has yet to be activated, as Bungie still needs a bit of tinkering time to ensure that its changes don't end up affecting the game.

Update 1.2.0 got delayed due to a serious issue

Such a thing was avoided earlier today, as the update didn't appear at its scheduled time. The studio declined to offer any reason for this sudden move and now Bungie Community Manager David Dague sheds a bit of light on the official forums.

According to him, a last-minute technical issue was spotted ahead of launch, and seeing as how its fix requires a fair amount of time, the delay was implemented. No new time table is offered, so expect to hear more later today once the solution is found and implemented.

"I've spoken with the finest minds at Bungie about Update 1.2.0 just moments ago. They're working to correct a late-breaking technical issue that would have impacted the way the game launches for a large portion of you. Progress is being made. We'll be sharing new details on the deployment schedule that leads to House of Wolves as soon as they become facts."

It's also unclear if this delay will affect the release schedule for House of Wolves, so Destiny fans should expect to hear more quite soon about the upcoming expansion and its actual launch times.
