Player choices depend on style and modes

The development team at Bungie might be working on the creation of a new expansion for Destiny and on making sure that the game is well balanced until the new content arrives, but the studio also has time for more frivolous investigations, like finding out which are the weapons that the community has been using.

The official weekly update quotes the fictional chief resident researcher Dr. Bunson Honeydew saying that the attached infographic explains which were the most popular Primary, Special and Heavy Weapons used by the various characters that have gone past level 20 during the previous two-week period.

The team explains, “Weapon use in Destiny is pretty diverse and follows a very fat ‘long tail’ distribution.  The guns on these lists are indeed awesome but a lot of players are finding that other, more obscure weapons better fit their tactical needs or their personal play styles.  Besides, punching all of the aliens in the face is obviously the correct way to play Destiny anyway.”

The list includes weapons like Vision of Confluence, Khvostov 7G-02, Cydonia-AR3, SUROS Regime, Vex Mythoclast, Thorn, Atheon’s Epilogue, and more.

The popularity of each implement of destruction varies based on the preference of the players and on the modes they enjoy most in Destiny.

Bungie is getting ready to deliver a major patch on January 13

The next big date for the community that has developed around Destiny is January 13, when a new major patch will be launched, designed to deal with some of the problems linked to the Crota’s End raid that was introduced in The Dark Below.

There are also modifications that will tackle other maps.

On the same date, Destiny will also witness the return of the Iron Banner event, which appeals to Player versus Player fans and will deliver a range of new rewards for those who perform well.

A Hard mode for Crota’s End is coming at a later date and Bungie is already working on the content that will be introduced in the House of Wolves expansion, which is set to be offered in March on all platforms.
