Gamers are accusing the company of releasing an unfinished title in order to get more money from DLC sales

The player base for the recently launched Destiny is very curious and ready to explore the limits of the first-person shooter, and their most recent discovery is that the game includes at least one major unfinished area which is situated near the Black Garden level on Mars.

IGN has used directions from a fan to show exactly how the new space can be accessed by those who are interested in seeing it, but no enemies seem to be present there and there are no in-game quests or events associated with it.

It’s unclear whether Bungie has created this section of Destiny in order to later populate it via downloadable content releases or it was simply cut from Mars because it was not up to the standards of the developers.

The company has offered no comment on the discovered area and more of them might be present, with members of the player community already organizing themselves in search parties in order to find them.

A ten-year plan for Destiny

Before Destiny was officially launched, the developers working on it have been talking about the fact that their universe is designed to exist for a ten-year period, supported with new content and new gameplay features.

This probably means that the first title will need to be attractive for gamers for at least one year as a sequel is being worked on, and that in turn might be a reason to include unfinished areas that can later be populated and activated by the studio.

Some fans are already accusing Bungie of launching an unfinished title just to later be able to ask them to pay so that they get access to a fuller experience that could have been offered on launch.

Already a success for Activision

Video game publisher Activision has said that Destiny is the best-selling new intellectual property in the history of video games and that it has managed to sell 325 million dollars (278 million Euro) worth of copies in the first week on the market.

The first piece of DLC for the social shooter, called The Dark Below, will be offered on all platforms before the end of the year.

Bungie is also pledging that it will launch new events for gamers every week and that teams of developers will enter the Player versus Player section of the game in order to give community groups a chance to defeat them to earn special emblems.
