There is a rumor running around since last week that Bungie is readying another Destiny expansion called The Taken King, which came by way of advertising materials.

In fact, the information was confirmed by a promotional campaign run by Red Bull. However, we didn't know when exactly Bungie plans to launch the new expansion.

Well, it looks like the folks over at Kotaku have just received some “marketing materials” that confirm Destiny's The Taken King expansion will be released on September 15.

The leaked materials also state that the expansion will cost $40 and will introduce a new subclass for each of the game's three classes.

New super powers and a new subclass

A new elemental powerful ability will be added too, an electrical storm from Warlocks (arc), a gravity bow for Hunters (void), and a flaming hammer for Titans (solar). These superpowers are meant to complement each of the mentioned class' current weakness.

Furthermore, The Taken King will also bring some new PvP maps, new Strikes, as well as a brand-new raid where players will get to take down Oryx, father of Crota, and his cohort of Taken, who are now looking for revenge.

Rumor has it that The Taken King might also introduce entirely new environments, though the information hasn't been confirmed by the leaked marketing materials.

Although Bungie has yet to offer an official statement on the matter, we expect the game developer to announce something during E3 2015, which will kick off next week.

If the studio does indeed announce the release of Destiny's The Taken King expansion for September 15, it will be interesting to see what other new content it will bring aside from what's been leaked today.

Anyway, the information that we got today is more than enough to offer us a glimpse on what to expect from Destiny's next expansion. Stay tuned for more updates on The Taken King.
