The development team working on Destiny at Bungie has learned a lot from the creation of the various titles in the Halo franchise and will make sure that the incoming game will have more replayability features.

Jason Jones, one of the co-founders of the studio, tells IGN that, “I think the great tragedy of Halo is that for years and years it provided wonderful single-player and co-op content, and we provided people with almost no fun incentives or excuses, almost no reason besides their own enjoyment, to go back and replay it.”

The ten missions in the first Halo video game were some of the best ever created in a shooter but most players only saw them once in the campaign.

The developer says that he would love to get the chance to return to the universe and implement some simple mechanics in order to encourage players to experience the story of Master Chief once again.

The new Destiny is designed from the concept phase with strong replay elements, including a wider variety of items and weapons.

Jason Jones adds, “The reason we’re doing is because I feel like, looking back on Halo… I described it over and over again to the team. It’s one of the great tragedies of Halo.”

In Destiny, players will be able to explore a bigger world than in Halo and the variety of environments and enemies is also higher.

Bungie also wants to create a more social experience, where interactions with other human players are integrated into the shooter gameplay.

Destiny will be out on current-gen consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in 2014.

343 Industries is also working on a new Halo title for the next-gen home console from Microsoft and a brief trailer was shown at E3 2013.
