Bungie has just confirmed that the Iron Banner in-game event for Destiny is now available, allowing all players to venture forth in the competitive Crucible arena and compete in special matches for big rewards and goodies.

Destiny came out almost one month ago, and since then, the game hasn't had the best of periods, as quite a few players were disappointed with the repetitive gameplay and the poor story that failed to make them feel like they were saving Earth.

Bungie wasn't deterred by the negative feedback, quite the opposite in fact, as the studio has rolled out several updates and patches, while organizing in-game events to share even better rewards with players who decided to stick with the online shooter.

The Iron Banner event is now live

The latest such event has just gone live, in the form of the Iron Banner, which brings forth challenging matches in the competitive Crucible arena for all players to compete in.

While the Crucible matches are balanced out by disabling level advantages, so that even level 1 players face off against level 20 ones, the Iron Banner matches have the aforementioned advantages enabled, meaning you need great gear, abilities, and skills to succeed.

"You are invited to enter the Crucible for a limited time event that will test your power as a Guardian. The ratings on your gear will make all the difference! Unlike the other competitive playlists in Destiny, Iron Banner is not a level playing field," the studio explains on its website.

"Bring your deadliest weapons. Equip your sturdiest armor. The Iron Lords are seeking out the most powerful warriors who call the City their home. For those brave enough to fight (and to win), there will be new rewards to serve as a warning of their prowess in the arena."

The event has special mechanics and rewards

Players interested in entering the Iron Banner need to visit the Crucible and select the special playlist that's now available inside it. Playing in these matches means players earn a special amount of reputation with the Iron Lords, and as they progress through the three different ranks, they can earn plenty of rewards.

These include the actual Iron Banner emblem, as well as shaders, class items, and more. Customized weapons and armor are also offered as exclusive rewards.

The Iron Banner event in Destiny is available until October 14, so you might want to join the matches sooner rather than later.
