Bungie has just rolled out a brand new hotfix update for Destiny, in order to eliminate some of the many exploits used by players to get legendary gear by using caves filled with constantly respawning enemies.

Destiny launched at the beginning of the month and developer Bungie finally got to showcase its multiplayer-only first-person shooter, delivering a huge open world comprised of multiple sprawling environments, as well as its actual gameplay mechanics.

The title received a mixed reception, as while plenty of people didn't appreciate the repetitive missions and gameplay, many fell in love with the huge environments as well as many other things.

In order to solve some of the most important issues, Bungie has already rolled out a few updates to the actual game, not to mention some modifications to its servers that have a direct effect on gameplay.

A brand new hotfix is now live

One such server-side patch has just been rolled out by Bungie, in the form of hotfix #5, which tweaks plenty of exploitable areas that were used by a staggering number of players to farm rare and legendary items.

The main targets in this new update are the monster caves from a series of locations throughout Destiny's big planets, i.e. Earth, Moon, Mars, and Venus. These caves were filled with enemies that respawned quite fast, just 6 to 10 seconds after death. This resulted in easy kills for players, as well as plenty of rewards, including rare and legendary engrams, which could in turn be transformed into impressive gear, including weapons or armor.

As such, the infamous Treasure Cave has been completely shut down, as the Hive enemies will no longer spawn from that location. Other caves, from the Skywatch, Forgotten Shore, Ember Caves, Shattered Coast, or Barrens have seen their respawn time increased to 40 seconds, as opposed to the original 6 or 10 seconds.

Other tweaks are also included

Besides tackling the easily exploitable caves in Destiny, the new update also makes a few tweaks by implementing a reduced drop rate of engrams following a hard wipe of the team in strike missions, but this effect only lasts for a short time, so players shouldn't worry all that much.

What's more, the hotfix also tweaks the Queen's Wrath event that's currently happening in the game. Material rewards for dismantling gear earned via Queen's Wrath will no longer provide ascendant materials. Missions in Queen's Wrath, however, will continue to drop legendary items.

The new Destiny hotfix is live and its changes are already implemented in the game.
