Destiny has just gotten a bunch more details, from a time lapse of its gorgeous environments to a batch of screen captures that showcase the game's character creation system, some guns a bit of gameplay.

The upcoming action role-playing first-person shooter video game comes from legendary Halo developer Bungie and will be published by Activision. The game features a persistent universe that the developer has shared will not be controlled by them, but by the players' actions, creating a dynamic experience for everyone involved.

The game will borrow heavily from massively multiplayer online games, but Bungie has refrained from defining Destiny as a traditional MMO shooter. One major difference is that players will be able to see each other not based on what server they joined, but by using the company's on-the-fly matchmaking system, casually brushing with each other while doing various in-game activities.

The gameplay will focus on several components that address various play styles, from competitive multiplayer to laid back resource gathering, which you can choose freely depending on what you're up for in that particular circumstance.

The game has received praise for its detailed environments, and Eurogamer's Digital Foundry has decided to put together a video showcasing the beautiful Earth depicted in Destiny, in the form of a time lapse depicting several different landscapes.

The video shows the world of Destiny's skybox cycles, complete with the superb lighting and shadows simulation and other various visual tricks that Bungie has up their sleeve.

The footage was taken from the game's alpha, which PlayStation 4 owners will also be able to access in an exclusive session from June 12 through June 15. In order to gain entry to the testing phase, PS4 owners have to visit the Destiny exclusive alpha event website and register before the end of today.

The alpha test will offer gamers a chance to get a first look at what Destiny has to offer, while also testing the game's infrastructure ahead of the beta test, scheduled to debut in July.

In addition to this, Bungie has also released a fresh batch of screenshots from the upcoming shooter with role-playing elements, highlighting the character creation system and the freedom it affords players when creating their in-game avatars, and some various gameplay stills that look amazing.

Sony intends to release a white PS4 bundle when Destiny launches, consisting of a "glacier white" 500GB PlayStation 4 console, a white DualShock4 controller, Bungie's game, and a voucher for 30 days of PlayStation Plus service.

Destiny is coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms, on September 9, 2014.
