Video game developer Bungie and publisher Activision announce that they are set to launch a new hotfix update for Destiny, which is set to be deployed starting with 7 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, October 7.

The two companies are saying in an official update on the site of the game that the title will be down for several hours and that no gamers will be able to access the experience for that time, even if they log in before the hotfix is introduced.

Bungie states, "Most of the changes included in this update will improve the technology that enables players to connect to Destiny. The player experience will remain unchanged, aside from the stability for some users who have encountered issues connecting to servers."

The company says that more data logging will be added for the matchmaking systems of Destiny and that Kick to Orbit events will be reduced, as will the Centipede issues reported by many gamers.

A bug which allowed gamers to quick scope with some weapons is also being eliminated and improvements to the core game also mean that from now on it will be easier for Bungie to deliver other fixes or bigger updates for the game.

On the server side, Destiny is also being improved, and the studio says that security is being upgraded, server performance increased, and logging improved in order to diagnose connectivity issues faster in the future.

Destiny is a continuously improving experience

Since Destiny was first launched, the development team has explained that it has long-term plans for it and that it will deliver hotfixes and updates as fast as possible, based on the feedback coming from the community and on the data gathered by the company.

At the moment, Bungie is also working on a full new expansion, called The Dark Below, set to arrive before the end of the year.

Until then, gamers will be able to take part in a range of events and they can also choose to battle members of the development team weekly in Player versus Player matches.

Activision has made a big investment in Destiny and wants to make the social shooter profitable in the long term, while making sure that gamers remain engaged with it for as long as possible.

Bungie says that it has a ten-year plan for the experience, which includes both expansions for this release and entirely new games with evolved mechanics.
