The development team in charge of Destiny has just run a special Destiny Bounty event, but it seems that this week will be special for fans of the social shooter, as a new series of community-focused engagement initiatives is debuting on Friday.

The company says that it is trying to introduce an experience that is not competitive, allowing players to take part in a Bungie Ride Along, during which they will be able to enjoy the elements of the title that they love best with members of the studio.

On Friday, February 6, between 1 and 3 PM Pacific Time, gamers will be able to join MoreConsole, a well-known member of the community, on a Venus Patrol Walking Tour during which commentary will be provided by Blake Low, a Bungie senior artist.

The official announcement explains, “What secrets lurk in those lush jungles? What origin stories can we mine from the terrain? Blake will lead us on an architectural tour through a living warzone. The Vex won't likely cease their efforts to destroy us, so we'll just have to clear the area while we enjoy the scenery.”

Bungie claims that the Ride Along is still being defined at the moment and that they are aiming to deliver one every week.

The studio is not saying exactly how the players involved will be chosen, although being visible on the forums or on other social media channels probably helps a lot.

Community engagement is important for Destiny, expansions are crucial

Events like Bungie Bounty and Bungie Ride Along can help the community remain engaged with the title despite the fact that they do not have any actual new content to explore.

They can also be used to deliver special rewards and interesting challenges.

But the social shooter needs to get more strikes and more raids, and Bungie will deliver them in the new House of Wolves expansion.

A leak claims that it will be delivered on all platforms on May 19 and shows some of the new powerful gear that players will be able to get for their Guardians.

Bungie says that a lot of the content shown has been outdated for some time and fans should be ready for some surprises related to the future of Destiny.
