You can't take your helmet off during combat, unfortunately

Bungie has offered a few more details about Destiny, its upcoming first-person shooter, talking a bit about the crowd control measures in combat, the mandatory nature of a helmet outside the Tower, and how much you can customize your Guardian at the beginning of the game.

Destiny is the next big bet from Bungie and Activision, with the two companies hoping to kick off an online multiplayer shooter that will last 10 years and deliver all sorts of great content across different consoles.

The game has been in development for quite some time and should receive a beta in July, ahead of the game's release in September.

While talking about Destiny's presence at E3 2014, Bungie has answered a few more questions from fans about the game on its blog.

First up, during combat, players can use abilities to control crowds of enemies, particularly if they have a Warlock character, as it can employ different magic attacks.

"You want to control a crowd? Fill their favorite route with crackling energy. My Warlock can throw an Axion Bolt that lingers after it detonates. That’ll make your commute to your favorite corner of the map a real headache."

For players who are eager to customize their Guardian, Bungie has revealed the different things that can be personalized at the beginning of the experience and what things are restricted at least at the start of the game.

"The first thing you’ll do in Destiny is create your Guardian. Hunter, Titan, or Warlock? Man or Woman? Human, Exo, or Awoken? You’ll choose your face, and so much more. Weapon, armor, and ability customization, however, can only be found in the wild – rewards claimed through action and bravery."

Unfortunately, for players who want to see their character's face even when in combat, there won't be a possibility to turn off the helmet's appearance, although it will be automatically removed when players are in the tower.

"A helmet doesn’t do a lot of good if it ain’t on your head. If you want to come face to face with your fellow Guardian, the Tower will be a lovely place to hang out. While you’re there, you can advance your journey toward becoming legend. A public marketplace of vendors will equip you with what you need to become the ultimate badass."

Destiny is set to launch in September for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Expect the beta to surface in July first for the PS3 and PS4 and afterwards for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
