14 DAY TRIAL // Most Destiny addicts have already gotten the game’s upcoming DLC, The Dark Below, which has been confirmed for release on December 9. Buying new content for a game should be a smooth, uneventful experience, but that’s not going to happen with Destiny players.
Before going into more details, know that the issue does not affect all Destiny players who purchased The Dark Below, but if it didn’t happen to you it doesn’t mean that there aren’t lots of PS4 owners who can’t play the game anymore.
With less than a day until The Dark Below gets unlocked, some PS4 owners who purchased the DLC are unable to login into the game. Whenever they try to access Destiny, they are met with a countdown screen, which shows how much time is left until the game becomes playable.
Although the said countdown should refer to The Dark Below DLC for some reasons unknown to us, the purchase of the new content locks PS4 owners out the game until the new content becomes available.
The issue only affects owners of the digital version of Destiny
The bad news is we can’t say for sure that those who have been affected by this issue will be able to actually play Destiny again once The Dark Below launches.
Luckily, there are a few workarounds that may or may not help you bypass this glitch. Several players have already reported on reddit that some of the solutions worked for them, so here is what you have to do in order to be able to play Destiny again if you’ve been locked out after purchasing The Dark Below DLC.
The first solution that proved functional for some is to try and restore the License. However, this hasn’t worked for everyone, so if it’s not good for you either, you will have to try out another workaround that’s not that easy to achieve.
Basically, you will have to re-download and re-install the game in case the first solution doesn’t work out. Considering the issue only affects players who own the digital version of Destiny, there’s no doubt that this will be a long and painful wait.
But fret not because, if you decided to go for the second solution to the issue, you will be able to login into Destiny once again. The workaround has been tested by PS4 owners and the procedure re-enabled them to access the game.
