The new Destiny from Bungie is more than five months away from launch but the development team working on the coming shooter is ready to give fans of the title more details about some of the core game features, helping them prepare for release day.

Answering player questions on the traditional Weekly Update on the official site, the community manager explains that crafting will definitely be important for players because they will have the ability to use some of the items they have to craft better versions of the equipment they use.

Bungie explains that “Some of the loot you capture on your missions will be items that you can equip or wield. Other treasures that you reap from the action you sow will be raw materials that you need to upgrade your inventory. The best thing is that your rewards will be pre-destined. The fates know what you need, and your fortunes will favor the brave.”

It’s unclear whether this means loot drops will be different depending on the build a player is using in Destiny or if the team plans to actively allow gamers to choose what they mostly need and find it on the battlefield.

Bungie has already said that it wants the coming shooter to be a very open experience that supports a variety of styles and approaches and it seems that there will be no restrictions on how much they can carry in their inventory regardless of the class they use.

This means that gamers will have the option to switch every piece of the equipment from their character at any point, although that might be a bad idea in the middle of a fire fight.

The studio adds, “The plan of record is to enable you to carry an inventory with you, and allow you to make changes on the fly. The mysterious science that fills your pack with such wonderful toys is our secret for now. It’s technology, indecipherable from magic.”

Many of the features that Bungie is talking about might suffer important changes in the coming months, especially after the planned summer beta period for Destiny, during which a number of fans will be invited to test the core gameplay mechanics and offer feedback.

Destiny is currently set to be launched on September 9 of this year all over the world and will be offered on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and current-gen consoles.
