The development team at Bungie and publisher Sony are announcing that for the Asian region they are offering 5,000 spots in the beta stage of the upcoming Destiny shooter to all players who own a PlayStation 4 or a PS3 and have signed up for a PlayStation Plus account.

All those who are interested should go to the official registration page, which is at the moment open to all players, and complete an application form after logging in using their official account data.

All gamers who want to be part of the testing period need to complete the process no later than July 13.

Those who apply need to have a valid Sony Entertainment Network account with a Plus subscription attached and need to reside in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, or Taiwan.

The 5,000 gamers who will be selected to be part of the beta for Destiny in Asia will get a special e-mail from Sony no later than July 16. The e-mail will contain a voucher which players can use to register.

The two companies are not saying what kind of criteria will be used in order to decide which gamers will be selected to test the game and deliver feedback to the developers.

The official announcement explains that “Set in the distant future, Destiny casts players as Guardians of the last city on Earth, who will traverse the ancient ruins of our solar system from the red dunes of Mars to the lush jungles of Venus. Able to wield incredible power, players must battle humanity’s enemies and reclaim all that was lost during the collapse of mankind’s Golden Age and become legend.”

Bungie has not yet said exactly what kind of content gamers will be able to experience in the beta period for Destiny, but it has explained that it wants to test both the core game mechanics and the network infrastructure required to support the title.

Testing periods are also planned for Europe and the United States.

Destiny will be launched on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the 360 and the PS3 on September 9 of this year, with some exclusive content offered to those who play the title on Sony's platforms.

Bungie has said that its new title is designed to revolutionize the shooter genre by introducing fast-paced gameplay linked to a complex story which incorporates elements from the massive multiplayer and the role-playing game spaces.
