The “Why Desktop IT Pros Should Care About the Cloud?” Springboard Series Virtual Roundtable is now available on demand from Microsoft. IT professionals need only make their way to TechNet and watch the video offered by the software giant online, or download it (WMV format).

As the name implies, the roundtable is focused on answering questions about the relevance and impact of the Cloud computing paradigm on IT pros used to deal primarily with on-premises solutions.

Obviously, with Microsoft pushing its own Cloud platform, Windows Azure, aggressively to customers, the answer to the question in the roundtable’s label can only be that desktop IT professionals should indeed care about the Cloud.

“As an IT pro, you typically look at a three- to five-year cycle when deciding what equipment and technologies will be essential to helping your company continue to grow. Making the right choices can be challenging, especially when you consider the technology on the horizon,” revealed Microsoft’s Stephen L Rose.

“Our most recent Virtual Roundtable – “Why Desktop IT Pros Should Care About The Cloud” will help to give you the insight you need. We discuss how will these technologies impact the desktop? What is possible between the cloud and the desktop today? What are the steps you can take to quickly scale and manage users and devices without having to invest in a large infrastructure?

“The panel will tackle these questions and dig into PC management best practices, the challenges of protecting and supporting remote users, and how to provide the latest productivity services to businesses.”

Microsoft Technical Fellow Mark Russinovich is among the participants in this particular roundtable.

Some users might already be familiar with the fact that Russinovich jumped ship from Windows to Windows Azure, a platform which he hopes will be the equivalent of Windows 3.1 for the Cloud.
