In a materialistic world, these masks conjure magic

If you’re a film connoisseur, you might be familiar with Stanley Kubrik’s the masked ball scene from his movie “Eyes Wide Shut.”

It’s a transcendent event where people wearing masks and robes dance around the margins of reality, almost overstepping into a different dimension where all is possible and the concept of consequence doesn't have the same value.

3D printed masks will conjure up the dream world

Designer Melissa Ng is conscious of this magical power masks possess and that’s why she came up with a line of suggestive 3D printed masks, each with its own significance and mode of use.

Even if you’re not a believer in the esoteric powers of such accessories, you can’t help but look at these creations as real pieces of art.

Taking a tour through Melissa’s webshop on Shapeways, you can’t help but feeling you’re looking at magical accessories that have a deeper meaning.

And you’d be correct in assuming that, since Melissa hopes these masks will help with one thing.

Once put on, they are said to allow the busy New York City dweller (Melissa lives and works in the Big Apple) rid himself / herself of the entrepreneurial mind and allow him/her to experience the extended boundaries of the universe.

That sounds like a big, nice plan in theory and hopefully these masks will provide enough inspiration for people, so they can actually be able to do that.

Melissa is also the co-founder of Pianoverse, a location where lovers of music get to play and enjoy tunes. She also worked on designing a beautifully decorated and unique prosthetic leg, which should help patients come to terms with their disabilities in a gentler way.

You can also pick up some 3D printed accessories to go with the masks

Going back to her lineup of masks, all of them are named in correlation with the dream world. For example, there’s the Dreamer Mask: Illumination, Dreamer Mask: Emergence or Nightmare Mask: Fear, which all seem phases of a longer process that might lead to illumination.

Every model is manufactured as a single piece and its price is established depending on the used material.

Melissa also sells several 3D printed accessories like the Sweet Dreams Pendant and Creative Growth lamp, which also seem to retain the magic fairy tale aura installed by the lineup of masks.

If you’re interested in checking out Melissa’s works, you can go check out her web shop where you can also purchase some of her masks. For example, the Dreamer Mask: Illumination mask will cost you €98 / $122.
