Designer Michael Kors and Lance LePere, his partner of no less than 20 years, have become legally married in an intimate, beach ceremony that took place earlier this week. People magazine has confirmation of the happy news.

Shortly after New York legalized same-gender marriage, Michael and Lance formed just one of the many couples announcing the intention to tie the knot as soon as possible.

Said and done: preparations took place quietly, and the two were married in a very intimate and beautiful ceremony on the beach, the aforementioned publication writes.

“The designer and Lance LePere tied the knot on Tuesday in Southampton, N.Y. The couple wed in a private ceremony on Dune Beach officiated by Southampton Mayor Mark Epley,” People reports, citing the fashion publication Women’s Wear Daily.

Speaking after the ceremony, Kors said saying “I Do” to Lance had been something he’d dreamed of for years and that he could now finally turn into reality.

“To marry someone as wonderful and special to me as Lance barefoot on a glorious beach is more than I could have dreamed of,” the fashion designer is cited as saying.

“Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together,” Kors further stated.

Michael and Lance met back in 1990, when the latter came to work as an intern for the designer slash Runaway Project judge and television personality.

Shortly after, they begun dating and have formed one of the most solid couples in the industry so far.

Their example will most surely be followed by other same-gender couples, whether famous or not.

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka will also probably be married soon, announcing their engagement on Twitter shortly after the Marriage Equality Act was passed in New York.

The two have been together since 2004 and have adopted twins but, so far, no wedding date has been revealed to the press.
