Soldak Entertainment has released a beta patch for its action RPG title for Mac, Depths of Peril. Although patch 1.012 was released for all versions of the game, it contains updates and bug fixes specific to the Mac version, which is why you, as a player of the RPG title, should download the package and update now.

Depths of Peril is a single player action title that combines both RPG and strategy elements. You play as a faction leader protecting the barbarian city, Jorvik, by crushing your enemies and completing quests, but also by competing with rival factions. Barbarians choose their leaders by fighting to the death. Once you are chosen as a leader, you must deal with rival factions by means of diplomacy, trade, and in time, war.

Patch 1.012 highlights include:

- removed an assert that was causing problems on Mac; - added Mac min/recommended specs to manual; - game will no longer crash if MaxRecruits is modded; - fixed game when minimized on Mac still running at full speed; - increased difficulty of champion, elite, and legendary difficulty modes; - increased monster resistance enhancements; - made rogue and warrior wandering vendors carry better items; - slightly decreased attribute bonuses on magic items; - revenge quests now automatically get deleted if monster can't be spawned; - reworked how allied victory works to make a little more sense; - can now move to the next difficulty if you have beaten the story line in the previous difficulty.

Depths of Peril requires at least: 1.5 GHz processor (PowerPC or Intel), 128MB RAM, GeForce 2 (or other equivalent), 150MB of hard drive space. For a sure-to-be smooth gameplay experience, recommeded specs are: 2.0 GHz processor (PowerPC or Intel), 256MB RAM, GeForce 3 or better (or other equivalent).

HERE you can download the demo version of Depths of Peril that allows you to explore only the first part of the world and play through a small part of the storyline, as well as the beta patch in question. The full version of the game costs $19.99 and is available from Soldak's official website.
