The Denon company has been pretty busy lately, as it has launched a whole series of home entertainment - related products, meant to provide a complete and comprehensive solution for the users' entertainment centers. Beside their Blu-ray and DVD players, they've also come up with a couple of A/V receivers, two network enabled clients, an active surround sound system and an addition to their S-series, namely a few compact 2.1 systems and networked audio systems. However, since we're talking about a relatively high number of devices, the company decided to help the users in the control area as well and launched a fully programmable RF/IR remote control system, formed out of a remote control and a base station.

Thus, the RC-7000CI/RC-7001RCI is a fully programmable remote control system that can operate multiple A/V devices from Denon, as well as other manufacturers and can be expanded to numerous rooms in a house. When used by itself, the RC-7000CI allows for universal command and control of all Denon products including A/V Receivers, DVD players and next-generation DVD players. However, the company recommends that the remote control should be used together with one or more of the RC-7001RCI remote bases, thus turning it into a multi-room remote control system that allows for both two-way communication and IR functionality.

Moreover, the device is fully programmable (by connecting it to a PC via USB) and allows users to include in the device's memory the IR codes for the other electronic products they have around the house, for a true boundless entertainment system. And since we're on the subject, let's see what this "boundless entertainment" concept really means, according to one of the company's representatives, namely Joe Stinziano, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing. "Denon's vision for 2008 and beyond is one of 'Boundless Entertainment' for consumers, and we're committed to taking the bold steps necessary to lead the way into a new era of home entertainment connectivity and networking applications. By combining tried-and-true Denon audio and video performance with a host of innovative networking technologies, we've created a product line that provides powerful yet simple solutions for multiple applications. These new products allow users to enjoy their entertainment content regardless of its source anywhere and everywhere, whether it's packaged media, streamed content from inside or outside the home, or even Internet radio. Most importantly, we've addressed key consumer concerns throughout the line, such as ease-of-use and installation, in order to remove any remaining barriers that might prevent our customers from enjoying 'boundless entertainment'."

The RC-7000CI - Infrared (IR) / Radio Frequency (RF) remote control has a suggested price of around 300 US dollars, while the remote base will probably retail for around 200 US dollars (both devices will hit the shelves in August). Thus, users will have to fork out around $500 for the whole package, which, after all, is not that high a price, if we take into consideration the multiple control options this system has to offer.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
