Although much derided at first for her dreams of one day becoming a respectable fashion designer, Victoria Beckham is slowly getting there. Her collections so far have been received with wild praise, with some critics even going as far as to say that she’s the next hottest thing in the fashion world. Fans will be happy to hear that Mrs. Beckham has just launched new denim and eyewear collections.

Speaking with the reputed Women’s Wear Daily on the topic of the new lines, Victoria Beckham reveals that those looking to buy items should expect precisely what they’ve gotten from her so far as well: quality models with lots of style. The star described herself as a perfectionist to the core, which is why her motto in designing anything is that she must only create things she would wear herself. Anything less is discarded from the start.

“It’s about doing things gradually and building the brand in a strategic way. It’s about finding the right time, the right team. With everything that I do, I will only do it after I’ve done all my homework. I really am a perfectionist, and I don’t want to rush anything. It’s not just about putting my name on a product and getting it out there. That’s not what is important to me,” Victoria says for WWD.

This could also explain why her gowns are selling like hot cakes despite their rather high price. What’s more important, it’s not only celebrities who are going crazy for the designs, but regular (and, of course, wealthy) women as well. This, in turn, proves that initial criticism on how Posh was only designing for waif-like ladies such as herself was rather unfounded and hasty.

Not that Mrs. Beckham would ever let negativism bring her down. “I’ve always been driven. I was mentally and physically bullied when I was at school and that gave me a very thick skin… The only reason for me bringing that up is I have always been a fighter. I have always had to work very, very hard with everything I do. That is just my work ethic… That’s my DNA,” the always stylish star adds for WWD.
