Protesters have taken to dancing on the streets of Olympia in Washington, in an effort to fight a state tax that charges businesses where dancing takes place.

People of all ages have come up to the Capitol steps to show their appreciation for dancing to different genres of music, in a bid to show lawmakers how important dancing is to them.

Owners of dance clubs, studios and any other business that might be related to dancing in any way are required to pay taxes that can amount to six figures per year.

Business owners have been discontent with the tax for a while, and a February report by Komo News mentioned that many argued that imposing the tax was performed in an arbitrary manner, due to the lack of proper guidelines within the relevant legislation.
