14 DAY TRIAL // Even if, when they first announced that they were an item, many said of Demi and Ashton’s relationship that it wouldn’t last, they made it through six years together and three of marriage. Now, it is being said, the two are looking to adopt a baby, since fertility treatments have not paid off, according to sources who spoke with The National Enquirer.
According to the publication, friends of the couple have revealed that both Demi and Ashton want a child of their own and, since this has proven to not be possible, they have already contacted an adoption agency and are bound to get a baby boy this summer. This, it is said, will help cement the relationship between the 46-year-old actress and her much younger husband (Ashton is 30), which is precisely what they want at this point.
“Demi… and Ashton are believed to be going through a private adoption agency and hope to be parents by the summer. It’s a well-deserved triumph for the couple who suffered through failed attempts at in vitro fertilization… ‘Both Ashton and Demi finally came to terms with the reality that (childbirth) is just not going to happen for them,’ an insider told The Enquirer. ‘They had always resisted adoption because they wanted a baby of their own, but now everything has changed. They feel this is the best thing that could happen because they are able to give a child a great, loving start in life.’” The National Enquirer writes.
It seems that the decision to adopt, thus somehow stop trying to have a baby of their own, came to Demi and Ashton during the Obama campaign and the call for service. Choosing an unfortunate baby and providing for him a family and happy life is the best way the two can think of for making a positive change, the kind that alters lives, the same sources say. “The couple talked a lot during Obama’s campaign and about his message. It hit them that in this new period of hope and change, one of the best things they could do for a child - and for themselves - is to adopt a baby.” the insiders explained.
Demi already has three children, from her previous marriage to actor Bruce Willis. Representatives for Demi and Ashton were not available for comment regarding the adoption story.
