In a move that will probably surprise no one, Demi Moore has decided to end her 6-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher. In a statement to Us Weekly, the actress hints the cheating scandal was responsible for the breakup.

On the couple's sixth wedding anniversary, Kutcher cheated on Demi with a much younger woman. This was the second cheating scandal for him in as many years.

Though this happened many weeks ago, the two have put up a united front until now, presumably deciding to see if there was still something they could do to save their marriage.

As it turns out, there was nothing left.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” the 49-year-old actress says in the statement to the aforementioned publication.

“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” she adds.

This is the part of the statement that hints that Ashton's infidelity forced her to make this painful decision. She goes on to request privacy while she deals with the breakup of the marriage.

“This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” Demi further says.

As of now, Ashton has not released a statement on his own, but him and his management did come up with a brief tweet on the divorce.

“Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK,” says Kutcher's latest tweet.

Reaction to it from his 8.3+ million followers is mixed, with some encouraging him to move on and look at the bright side of things, and others criticizing him for making the divorce announcement on Twitter instead of keeping it a personal matter, between Demi and himself.
