Lady Gaga took it to a whole new level during her latest performance in Austin, Texas for the SXSW Festival when she appeared on a spit on stage as if she were an eviscerated animal being roasted. Then she further upped the ante by having a woman voluntarily throw up on her while she sang, after ingesting a neon green liquid.

While most people who reported on the news were left with a bad taste in their mouths and scratched their heads in wonder at this “artistic” performance, one of Gaga's fellow pop stars took a more drastic position and blasted the “Born this Way” singer for promoting eating disorders.

Demi Lovato, who has suffered from bulimia in the past, took to Twitter to express her outrage by saying “Sad... As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already. 😣 Bottom line, it's not "cool" or "artsy" at all.”

She seems to be especially affected by the performance since she herself entered treatment for an eating disorder and other issues at a specialized facility back in 2010. She's currently trying to draw attention that Gaga is merely glamorizing bulimia and other eating disorders by letting young people know it is cool to eat and throw up.

So far, all she's managed to do is cross Gaga's fans, who jumped to their idol's defense, forcing Lovato to face an angry tirade on Twitter. The “Skyscraper” songstress stood her ground and shot back saying that “It's not ‘shade’ and it's not ‘hate’. Someone has to come forward and say it and I'll take the heat for it. But someone has to come forward and say it and I'll take the heat for it. Putting the word ART in it isn't a free card to do whatever you want without consequences.”

Lovato also blasted Gaga, who, in the past, admitted to having issues with her own body image that forced her into depression and eating disorders, for now forgetting what the entire issue is about and turning it into a trivial matter.

She finally addressed Gaga directly on Twitter by saying “@ladygaga you're SO talented, if not one of the most talented in our industry PERIOD. Dope is INCREDIBLE.. but you don't have to do that,” referring to one of Gaga's latest songs called “Dope.”

Gaga has yet to tweet back a response to Lovato who seems to be the only celebrity out there willing to publicly condemn the usually weird singer who likes to shock and awe with what she calls “performance art.”
