Although still in hiding after having received more than 500 death threats by e-mail in just one single day, Nadya Suleman is still talking to the media about what made her make the decision to have as much as 14 babies. Criticism against her is unfounded, she tells David Jones of the Daily Mail, because her acts are not selfish, but the ultimate proof of true love for children.

She is now “the most vilified mother in America,” as Jones himself calls her, a woman half “delusional” who “parrot[s] chunks of psychobabble from textbooks she once read on a college child-rearing course and throw[s] in a few pearls of homespun wisdom.” But Nadya Suleman will walk the distance – whichever that may be – to show the world that she is, at the end of the day, the closest thing to a supermom.

“There’s no such thing as a supermom – but I’m trying!” Nadya tells Jones, for an instant apparently oblivious to the fact that she’s on all sorts of government assistance, has no job, has her parents working themselves to exhaustion for her desire to have children, and is seriously in debt because of several student loans. Nadya is also a single parent, and lives with her mother in a three-bedroom bungalow that looks more like a pigsty than anything else, with the living space stripped of furniture to accommodate bunk beds, food on the walls and chaos reigning supreme.

However, for Suleman, money is not the issue because she’s positive she can raise all her 14 children on love alone – or something to that effect. “People ask me how I will be able to afford to take them all on holiday. But children don’t actually need holidays. They’re just an adult creation. Children just need you to sit and talk to them in the beauty of nature. When it comes down to it, all they really need is grass and worms.” she says. This is not the first time that she shows herself to be completely above financial issues, as in a recent interview she also said that she was convinced God would find a way to provide for her and her impressive brood.

In a certain way, God did just that. Besides receiving help now from church volunteers in her hometown and the aforementioned welfare (which she refuses to consider so), Suleman also hopes to have other people as well chip in for the children’s future – and there is no better way to do that than by means of a family website where kind-hearted folks can make donations. Of course, California taxpayers will also contribute, much against the will of the majority of them: Suleman’s octuplets will cost them over $3 million in hospital fees and handouts, it has been revealed. Calling her “the most vilified person in America” right now does have a ring of truth to it.
