Tens of articles have been written about Dell's small-sized portable computer system designed to compete with ASUS' Eee PC, but also with many other netbooks currently available on the market. Despite the almost unbelievable amount of media exposure received, Dell is yet to officially announce the product, not to mention start shipping it. After failing to release the Mini Inspiron on August 22, as it was initially believed it would, it was only natural that rumors about an upcoming release date started making the rounds all over again.

For a netbook that has not even been released nor tested by anyone, Dell's Inspiron 910 must be one of the most media hyped products of the year. Given all the leaked info on the netbook, we already know its tech specs and the way it is going to look. Therefore, all that is left for Dell to do now is to officially announce the product so that we can finally welcome this portable system as yet another close competitor for ASUS' Eee PC.

According to recent rumors, we only have to wait until September 5, which is two days from now, for the Inspiron 910, Dell's first foray in the netbook market, to finally make its debut. Sources inside the company and familiar with its plans have confirmed that Dell intends to release the mini-notebook later this week.

Details about a specific price tag are not available at the moment, but the sources indicate that we should be expecting a product that will likely sell for under $400. This doesn't necessarily confirm previous rumors of a $299 price point, but it does tells us that Dell is probably looking to deliver one of the cheapest portable computer devices on the market.

These bits and pieces of info will most certainly put a smile on the faces of all those netbook fans out there that have been waiting for this product ever since Michael Dell first showcased it. Given its specifications and rumored price point, this netbook could prove to be one of the best choices for emerging markets.

Update: According to recent reports, Dell will release the Inspiron 910 sooner than initially expected – tomorrow, to be more exact. We will keep you informed the moment further details emerge.
