Computer maker Dell is expected to bring its latest Android-based tablet PC to the Australian market too in the near future, and the company reportedly confirmed such plans.

The company is set to bring to shelves in the country more mobile devices, though nothing was announced specifically on the matter. However, more details on this might start to emerge in the near future.

“We haven’t announced a launch date in Australia for Dell’s 7″ Streak tablet and are unable to speculate when it might be. At this time we are discussing it with the carriers. We have also said we plan to offer a range of mobility devices in Australia,” a company's spokesperson reportedly stated.

Dell is not the only company to bring to the market tablet PCs running under Google's Android operating system, but it seems that it would indeed plan on focusing on the area.

The first such device from Dell, the Streak, a 5-inch tablet PC, has become quite popular among end users, even if it arrived on shelves with the older Android 1.6 platform on board.

The new Streak 7 tablet comes with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, with the Stage UI from Dell on top.

The tablet PC was announced officially at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and should land on T-Mobile USA' airwaves in the near future.

The company unveiled at that time plans to bring the device to more markets around the world, but specific details on this still have to emerge.

Australia is only one market where Dell would launch the Streak 7 tablet, and it seems that it won't be the only device that should hit shelves in the country.

According to a recent article on delimiter.com.au, the computer maker would also aim at bringing more mobile devices to the local market, and should provide additional info on this in the future.

“We plan to offer a range of mobility devices in Australia. We are unable to confirm at this time when we might launch a smart phone in Australia” Dell's spokesperson said.
