Yesterday, Dell announced two new models from the Optiplex desktop series aimed at the corporate segment. GX520 and GX620 will be available in seven configurations with different form factor cases and Penium 4 and Celeron D processor with frequencies of up to 3.8GHz.

And since the European Union's directive related to lead content from electronics will be effective starting from July 2006, Dell is preparing for it. Hence, the components included in the two models: power supply, motherboard and chassis are built with lead-free materials.

The company has announced that the high-end of the series, GX620, which will be available in four versions of cases, including ultra-small, will have a price of $579, whereas the mainstream model GX520, available in three versions of cases, will have a smaller price of $549.

Aside from the Pentium 4 and Celeron D processors, standard configurations will also include SATAII and Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset. The cases available for the two models are built around the BTX format which ensures better ventilation and a lower level of noise. Users will also benefit from the Dell DirectDetect utility which will allow them to monitor the system's status.
