The new dual-core, 64 bit Intel processor hasn't even been commercialized yet and Microsoft hasn't launched Windows XP 64 bit, but Dell is so assured of its qualities that it hasn't hesitated to announce two new products based on the Pentium Extreme Edition 840 with Hyper Threading and the new 955X chipset.

Having three PCI Express x16, x4 and x1 slots, three PCI slots and the ability to support up to 4 GB of DDR2 dual channel memory, Dimension XPS Gen 5 will be the dream of every gamer.

Dell didn't give any other details, but considering that the previous series of Dimension XPS Gen 4 were offering Nividia GeForce 6800 or ATI Radeon XT850 Platinum graphics cards, Audigy 2 ZS Sound Blaster and SATA hard disks, we don't think the new series will disappoint the public.

Dimension XPS Gen 5 is designed so that it runs a 3D game, while streaming video files and scanning for viruses.

The price for the Dimension XPS Gen 5 standard edition will be 2,999 dollars and it will be shipped with Windows XP or Media Center Edition 2005.

For professionals, Dell proposes the workstation Precision 380 with the same Intel solutions, but supporting 8 GB DDR2 ECC of memory, which will be shipped with Windows XP Profession x64 or another 64 bit operating system. Precision 380 will support 4 Serial ATA II hard disks with RAID 0, 1, 5, or 10 and everything will be packed in a rack-mountable case.

The Precision will also support the 64 bit Pentium 4 600 processors, but the price hasn't been announced yet.
