Obviously the XPS 15 hasn’t been designed to work on the OS X

Stories of different manufacturers trying to copy the look of Apple products have been around for as long as we can remember.

The latest to attempt a little trickery seems to be Dell, which has taken a more complex approach to things. In a marketing video, the company has posted on their YouTube channel, spotted by The Verge, a Dell XPS 15 laptop is shown running an interface which combines Windows 8 and OS X cues.

Albeit having the video online for more than a month, the company has currently taken it down, but I can tell you the ad depicted an XPS 15 model, capable of switching between the Windows 8 Start Screen and apps running in OS X.

This is evident in the menu bar as well as the buttons in the apps itself which bear a distinctive OS X flavor. And all was achieved by virtue of a wrist flick or a simple tap on the screen.

The Dell XPS 15 was obviously not designed to run OS X but Windows 8, so the marketing team might have gotten a little creative when working to produce the vid. Dell has remained quiet about the mishap for the moment, but removing the video might be what it takes to salvage the situation, doesn't it?
