14 DAY TRIAL // Those on the market for a new shiny Chromebook should know that Amazon.com has kicked off Black Friday a little earlier this year.
Only for today, customers will be able to grab the Samsung ATIV and Dell XPS 12 Ultrabooks at discounted prices. So you will need to be quite quick about it.
The Dell XPS Convertible can be now purchased for $799 / €590 instead of $999 / €738, which means that shoppers will enjoy a 20% discount on the model.
The Samsung ATIV comes in two flavors, the i3 Core version can be grabbed for $619 / €457 instead of $699 / €516 (11% off), while the i5 Core version is available for $699 / €516 as opposed to $899 / €664 (22% off.)
The Dell Ultrabook convertible (capable of handling laptop and tablet mode) features a 12.5-inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Under the bonnet lives an Intel Core i5 3317U processor clocked at 2.6GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM.
The convertible offers 128GB of storage and runs Windows 8 out the box. The hybrid is capable of delivering clear, crisp sound thanks to its two JBL custom-tuned speakers and Bass Boost technology.
When it comes to the Samsung ATIV, customers can choose between the Intel Core i3 or i5 Ivy Bride versions coupled with 4GB of RAM. Admittedly, it's not Haswell, but 3rd-gen Intel architecture still provides good performance.
Apart from that, the device comes sporting a 14-inch display with 1366 x 768 pixels. Both models offer a hard drive of 500GB and Intel Integrated Graphics.
Battery life is expected to last up to 4.8 hours, which is not amazing, but at such an affordable price users will probably by-pass din inconvenience. Windows 8 is the default operating system here, as well.
Users will be able to tap into the Samsung App market place, which offers a wide range of applications especially tailored for the Samsung Ultrabook.
