While some manufacturers are launching tablets running the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, others are barely starting rolling out the update for some of their older products.

It’s the case of the Dell that is now finally offering the Android 4.4.2 update for its set of budget Android tablets, the Venue 7 and Venue 8.

The company pushed the Android 4.3 build back in January, so it’s high time it would upgrade its slates to the latest Android standard.

Some users on the Dell (2) official forums have reported receiving the OTA (over-the-air) update, but note the new build is currently available in select locations. Nevertheless, as it is the case with new software versions, the roll out happens gradually, so it might take a while until your tablet is hit by the update.

The new build comes in the form of a 300MB download and brings to the table the usual KitKat goodies, some tablet owners have already been enjoying so far, like immersive mode, performance enhancements, UI upgrades, faster multitasking possibilities, cloud-print support, upgraded downloads app and much more.

When the new build becomes available, your Dell Venue 7 or Venue 8 tablet will automatically receive a notifications that will let you know the update has arrived. If you’re very anxious to be getting it, you can head over to Settings > About Tablet > Software and check for the update manually.

For those who don’t remember, the Dell Venue 7 arrives bundling an IPS display with an average resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and draws life from a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 processor from the Clover Trail family fitted with 2GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of internal memory (expandable to 32GB via microSD card).

Dell offers two cameras (3MP on the back and a 0.3MP VGA one in front), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

On the other hand, the Venue 8 comes with an IPS display with the same (1280 x 800 pixels) and draws life from the same type of processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and either 16GB/32GB of internal memory.

In the photography department, the Venue 8 is a little bit more advanced coming with a 5MP auto focus rear snapper with 1080p HD video recording and a 2MP front camera.

With the Android 4.3 update, some users of the tablet reported having problems accessing their Hotmail and Outlook applications, but hopefully the new build won’t bring about anymore issues.
