Some of Dell's XPS One machines were shipped to the UK with US keyboards

This summer appears to be a rather unlucky period for Dell's keyboards. It seems that the computer giant had some of its XPS One machines shipped to the UK with US keyboards. The company announced the mistake in a statement on Friday, yet it did not unveil the actual number of the XPS wrongly shipped.

The whole mess was revealed when a UK customer bought a Dell XPS One computer from PC World. He discovered that a US keyboard had been mistakenly shipped with the machine, so he went back to PC World to get a UK keyboard replacement for his "stunning, all-in-one" machine.

The computer retailer was unable to provide any help, so the customer was advised to directly contact Dell about the cock-up. The company said that UK keyboards weren't available for that model and advised the customer to wait until they could offer him one. In the meantime, PC World managed to provide a Logitech keyboard as a replacement for the wrong one.

On Friday, Dell announced in a statement that the situation experienced by that customer was not a singular incident. The company said that "a small number of XPS One units in the UK were shipped with US keyboards in error for a short period of time. Dell has since rectified this issue, and all XPS One units are now shipping with UK keyboards".

It doesn't come as a surprise that the computer giant did not reveal the number of the XPS One units that were shipped with a wrong keyboard. Dell also said that it has UK keyboards available for replacement so that those used to type @ won't get " instead, and the other way around.

The company experienced a similar problem back in May, when an unspecified number of Dell Vostro 1310 and 1510 laptops were shipped to Europe with a wrong keyboard layout.
